Jean-Claude Pelletier

Jean-Claude Pelletier had a long career in the health care field before being appointed as Chair of the New Brunswick Health Council in August 2011.
 
After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Physical Education in Edmundston and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization in Guidance and Counselling at l’Université de Moncton, he became the Director of Staffing and Training and Director of Human Resources at the Edmundston Regional Hospital from 1976 to 1992. Following the redesign of the provincial health system, he held the position of Assistant Executive Director – Human Resources at the Region 4 Hospital Corporation until 2002. Mr. Pelletier also served as a resource person for the Board of Directors of Regional Health Authority 4 from 1992 to 2008 and previously, for the Edmundston Regional Hospital from 1987 to 1992.
 
Subsequently, he became Vice-President Human Resources for the Regional Health Authority 4, from 2002 to 2008. Since then, Mr. Pelletier held various positions within the health system: he has been the Interim Executive Director at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Regional Hospital in Moncton, the Interim Executive Director at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst and the Interim Director of Human Resources for the Vitalité Health Network in Edmundston.
 
Through the years, Mr. Pelletier was also a member of different provincial negotiating and work relations committees, and was the lead negotiator for a collective agreement for the Town of St-Leonard, New Brunswick.  He currently is a Member of the C.U.P.E. Pension Board of Trustees for hospital support staff and has been since 1999. Sports hold a place of choice in Mr. Pelletier’s spare time; he has coached several minor hockey teams and senior hockey teams, and has coached a senior softball team for eight years.
