Michel P. Richard brings decades of public service in New Brunswick to his new role as the Chair of the New Brunswick Health Council, effective October 2017. From his initial work in the public school system as a teacher and administrator, to the development of specialized training options, his qualities of leadership and hard work were soon recognized.
Charged in 1981 with the founding of a francophone community college for Dieppe, he accepted the challenge, developing a campus that showcased many of the new technology programs being delivered by colleges, while providing a key resource for the growing community. During his leadership at CCNB-Dieppe (1981-2004), he served as an organizer for the 1999 Sommet de la francophonie in Moncton, as well as being a member of the Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick and the Conseil économique des provinces de l’Atlantique.
In 2002, after taking on the task of preparing for the implementation of a new community college structure in the province, Richard was named as the Director General of the new Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, the first provincial francophone college. He has also participated in many international projects throughout the global francophonie, and served his local Caisse populaire. A graduate of l’Université de Moncton, Richard also runs his own consulting firm, Services conseils MPR.
