Health Council Publications Now Available Through NB Public Libraries Catalogue

March 25, 2019

The New Brunswick Public Libraries and the New Brunswick Health Council are collaborating to make local health information more accessible to the public. A number of the reports, surveys and other publications of the New Brunswick Health Council (NBHC) have been listed in the public libraries’ catalogue, so that New Brunswickers looking for information on health services and health trends in the province will have access to some of the latest and best information available.

Both organizations see benefits for New Brunswickers in this collaboration. Public libraries have the opportunity to share even more New Brunswick content that is current, and the NBHC reaches more New Brunswickers with its public reporting. In addition, because the catalogue links to electronic documents on the NBHC’s web site, library patrons can continue to explore other information they find there.

“Given our mandate for public reporting, we are always looking for new ways to make our information available to everyone in the province” declared Stéphane Robichaud, CEO of the NBHC. “It’s important for New Brunswickers to know about the quality of the health system, the health of our population, and the wellness of our youth, and that’s exactly the kind of information we offer.”

“New Brunswickers are becoming increasingly interested in their health, and in taking better care of themselves so that they can live long and happy lives,” said Trevor Holder, Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. “The New Brunswick Public Library Service strives to continuously improve and add to its collection, and to offer a variety of items for New Brunswick library cardholders. This collaboration with the New Brunswick Health Council is one of many examples, and one that will go a long way in helping New Brunswickers take the initiative in finding out more about healthcare trends in the province, and making better choices for themselves.”

The NBHC has been established as an independent organization that measures, monitors and evaluates New Brunswick’s health care system performance and population health, and that engages citizens in the improvement of health service quality.
